This movie is another one of my personal favorites from world war 2. This tells the story of british commandos and Greek resistance fighters and how they took out deadly artilery pieces on navarone.
The cast is first rate as most movies of it time were. You have gregory peck,david niven and anthony quinn. I think they all are perhaps some of the finest actors of their time. You never see acting like this today except maybe for anthony hopkins in some movies like titus! The storyline is strong and keeps you caught up in the movie wondering what will happen to these guys next which leads to a great deal of suspense also. You really develop a true concern for the main characters and that really adds to the movie. I cannot think how many times have I seen a movie and been like just kill him already who cares? I did not care at all about the characters in those movies where in this one I do!
The special effects and model sets while dated for it's time are still good even today! I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys good war movies. I know I enjoyed this one!
