Excellent review. (Reply to this comment)

This movie is truly filled with brilliant performances by a brilliant actor. However, I must note that Peter Sellers and Mike Myers are closer to Guiness' accomplishments in this film than Eddie Murphy ever was. Sellers idolized Guiness, who inspired him to tackle the multiple in Dr. Strangelove, which Myers went on record to declare as part of the inspiration for his Austin Powers/Dr. Evil/Fat Bastard turns. Though the only man I can think of in the last decade who took on multiple roles without the use of heavy latex would be Cheech Marin in From Dusk Till Dawn. Though they are all three undoubtedly supporting roles, Marin was solid in all of them.

Teen-age response .. huh? (Reply to this comment)

Well done, Grouch, and so timely with Sir Alec's death and the success of Eddie Murphy's multiple Klump roles. My usually- intelligent teenage sons just can't seem to bring themselves to appreciate that an old black-and-white film with thick British dialogue set the stage for Mr. Murphy in drag a long time ago. Kudos on your review, research and sensitivity.

I agree, Grouch. If I hadn't done my Write-off on TUNES OF GLORY, I would have shined up Sir Alec's Coronet.
John LeCarre once said that Guiness used to phone him up, and LeCarre would answer: "Yes, Alec, what can I do for you?"
There would be a pause everytime, and Guiness would ask, "How did you know it was me?"
All the best.

I agree with the excellent review kudo's. But then donlee, have his excellent review deleted to make room for yours on top. Is there any catagory for title padding ?? all those Alec Guiness's must be able to get him in trouble for something ..... ;)
