Excellent review... (Reply to this comment)

I remember the first time I saw this movie. I almost blew coca-cola out my nose laughing when I heard the address 22 Twain place.
Thanks for bringing it back!

Projectionist horror story! (Reply to this comment)
by Officer
A few years ago, I was a movie theater projectionist without a theater. I did a lot of fill in work, like when a projectionist needed a day off, they'd call me. Anyway, I took a job one night running a double feature with Murder By Death, and Clue at the local college.
It turned out to be one of my most stressful nights at work! (the pressure of running unfamiliar equipment at a new location day after day for a live audience that will surely string you up by your toenails if you screw up... Ughh!) As it turned out, Clue was a 35 mm print and gave me no problems, but Murder By Death showed up 40 minutes before showtime and turned out to be an 8 mm print!!! I had absolutely no idea how to thread, start, run, or get sound from the 8 mm projector, which looked as if it hadn't been used all year!
Long story short, I somehow winged my way through the night and pulled it off, but not before sweating bullets! I'll always remember Murder By Death as one of many movies that, as a projectionist (NOT a viewer) nearly pushed me over the edge! (The Patriot was another, but that's another horror story!)
Thanks for a nice review! ~Ryan

Elegant review of a great movie that brings back fond memories of my childhood. (No, I didn't grow up in an Addamsian household.)

pleasant reminder (Reply to this comment)

This is a movie I haven't seen in a long time. Your title rang a familar bell, but I wasn't sure I had seen it until until half way. I was just a teenager when I first saw it and Nancy Walker was such a pleasure to watch, that I remember her most of all. Thanks for the reminder that I definitly need to see this one again.

Doug, I thought you were doing Kind Hearts and Coronets, but this is great too. I'm sure that I will be surprised many time before the night is over, however. Great review of a great film, especially liked the personal touches of why it was so important for you.
Thanks for participating, I appreciate it and we'll do it again, someday.
