Donko's Full Review: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
National Lampoons has been bringing us some of the classic comedy movies we all want to own and once again this is another one! Christmas Vacation is the perfect addition to your holiday celebration. After seeing this movie we bought it and on Christmas Eve every year we watch this movie.
The return of The Griswolds was a real delight after the disappointing European Vacation. The fist important thing to mention about this film that makes it so good is the return of cousin Eddie. Whether we admit it or not we all have a "cousin Eddie" in our family and he always rears his ugly head at family gatherings! Luckily for the Griswolds their cousin is as funny as he is. If you looked up Trailer Trash in the dictionary you would find his smiling face.
Now back to the movie, The Griswolds are celebrating the holidays with the in-laws coming to visit and the cast of thousands. So you know from the get go it is a disaster waiting to happen starting with the opening scene with the family getting the Christmas tree. From there on the events are gut busting.
I think one of the classic parts of the movie is Clarks desire to put lights on the house, not just some lights but the kind that will produce a glow that the Space Shuttle could land by. Since our dads or husband resemble Clark in more ways than one, you are guaranteed to laugh till you cry.
This review doesn't reveal to much of the movies details because of the slapstick, gut busting comedy it needs to be a surprise. You really find yourself getting into Clarks attempt at the perfect Christmas. This is also a movie you will want to watch over and over again because there is so much you may not catch the first time around! One thing I can guarantee is after seeing this movie you will appreciate your family a whole lot more.
This movie is a series of Murphy's Law examples, because if anything can go wrong and Clark W. Griswold is there, it will. Celebrating with the Griswolds is how every Christmas should be spent, including yours!
