Madonna as Eva Peron sleeps her way to the top of Argentinian society, tossing out no longer needed lovers faster than yesterday's garbage. I loved seeing the period costumes, architecture, and old cars. There are also lots of interesting old news clips from the periods during which the story took place. I've listened to a CD Evita several times, so I was able to keep up with most of the words in the songs. I would have found it impossible if I'd been hearing it for the first time. The lip synching was awful. I can't figure out how they got it so bad. No one ever looks like they're actually singing what they're supposedly singing. It is an opera, so I shouldn't be surprised that most of the words are sung, but still, it seemed to me there should have been more spoken dialogue.
