Contrary to what most Americans think of these Hong Kong Action Flicks, I loved this movie. The awesome cast delivered a worthy performance and did well on usual Hong Kong action movie cliches.
For starters the cast was excellent. I thought that the three main characters were cool and were great role models for young Chinese kids in police academies. They set the standard for all Gen-X Cop wannabes. The police characters were cliched, but believable. Usually on every police squad there's an arrogant jerk and a bumbling fat guy. And that's what was so believable about it! The girls in this film were gorgeous and "saucy." They performances were subtle yet provokative. They truly emphasized the "saucy" adjective given to most beautiful Asian women.
The action sequences couldn't shake a stick to Jackie Chan, but they were more realistic and just a scoach funnier then Jackie Chan. The movie did share a few American references such as the title itself with "Gen-X," a truly American phrase. They were plenty of explosions and guns to satisfy your action/gang war/shoot-em up urges.
