Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
I went to see this film for one reason and one reason alone: Sigourney Weaver. Not that I'm a fan of hers or anything, but last year I watched (for the very first time) all of the Alien movies and loved them. I enjoyed Weaver as the main character, but found her to be a very "tough-looking" woman. I don't critize people's looks, but in Alien, I didn't think she was very attractive at all.
Then I saw the trailor for "Heartbreakers". I almost had a heart attack! In the trailor, Weaver is seen as the mother of Love-Hewitt, both very cleaver con artists who use there sexuality, charm -- and above all -- brains, to con money out of unexpecting wealthy men. The plot didn't sound like anything spectacular, but I was anxious to see Weaver playing a sexy temptress. I also thought it would be a light little film that didn't require a lot of thought -- just pure entertainment with some laughs. So I went.
Boy was I surprised. Sigourney Weaver looked pretty good! :)
While the plot of this film, as I said, is not complex or serious, it somehow got my attention and had me waiting to see what would happen next. During the movie, I didn't look at my watch. That says something about the film, since I always look at my watch many time during movies I'm not enjoying just to find out how much of this I have to live through! (Incidentally, I looked at my watch no less than 5 times during Hannibal... but that's a different review!). Although the plot was simple, I was never bored. It was entertaining. It was fun. And dispite the fact that one of the characters falls in love in the film, I didn't find it sappy or anything (I hate sappy movies!). There were lots of time when I laughed too. It was great.
The acting was pretty decent. Each actor played his or her part convincing and the characters were really well developed. I'm not a fan of Jennifer Love-Hewitt, but I really liked her in this movie (I think that my boyfriend did too! *s*). I thought she played her part really well and brought some youth into the film.
All in all, I give this movie 5 stars. I didn't have any expectations at all when I walked into the theatre, and I was pleasantly surprised. My boyfriend loved it too! I would recommend this film to anyone who likes sitting back and enjoying a good show.
