Unfortunately I have to break this movie review into two parts, computer graphics and story.

The computer graphics blew me away. About half way through the movie, I forgot that everything was computer generated. The computer graphics here is much better than Star Wars Episode 1. The computer graphics also fit the action sequences very well since much of the setting was in the future, with alot of science fiction involved that you couldn't make a set of or a model of. Also, the technology level in the movie would make it difficult to reproduce today without computer animation.

However, the story was a memorable revisit of Final Fantasy VII. The story writers should have looked a little further. The save the world theme has been done a little too often in games, but I suppose that is a general fault of movies based on games. Having an enemy, that really isn't an enemy, but rather confused, while the real enemy is supposedly your ally is a standard plot twist.

I would recommend this film for those people who want to see how far computer animation has progressed. As for the plot, I think that it recycles too many concepts that I have seen before.
