yes - THE DISH is great, I started a review on that which will be posted shortly; and Ebert - what's happened with this poor guy?!??! I actually used to respect him (and still do) but I think he's not taken the advice he gave to Harry Knowles, which was basically: "Never let them buy you out!"

Thanks for reading, rating and commenting :)

Oh, and I loved "October Sky" as well... but not "Jumanji," which had a similar, darkly shot and shaky feel to it.

I went to see this film mainly out of Roger Ebert's three-star review. This does not hold a candle to either of the first two JP movies, nor does it hold a candle to "October Sky," which Joe Johnston also directed, or "The Dish," which stars Sam Neill in a more exciting adventure. Good work!

Yes, usually I sit near the front of the theatre, in this case, the theatre was fairly full so I sat in the middle, so had a clear view of things - and yet, it was very dark and honestly, horrible to watch.

I may catch this film again, in a different theatre, to see how I feel after seeing it. But I doubt that will change my mind about it's lousy storyline and lack of character development. Thanks for reading.

That is interesting that you mentioned the darkness of this film. We watched it Friday night at the drive in's. Although movies tend to be a little "more" on the dark side on drive in screens, I thought it was really dark. At times, I couldn't even tell what was going on.

My kids actually liked the film though, but I was a little disappointed. I think they had the opportunity to make a really good film if they would done a lot of things differently.

Thanks for your review,

My Daughter loved the movie (Reply to this comment)

My wife liked the movie and I liked the movie. My daughter went along for the ride, this movie had her on the edge of her seat. I see some of the points you make as valid, but you know what. This movie works on a lot of levels for kids. My daughter did not see anything wrong with the movie and would love to see it again.

I thought the dinosaurs were leaner, meaner and more threatening. I think the Raptor story line with thinking dinosaurs was handled very well. Sure it has its drawbacks, but the kids will love it.

I just looked up Don Davis at http://www.imdb.com/ and he's listed as doing the scores for "The Matrix." That's his most famous work, everything else, well I've never heard of him before, and the stuff he has scored, well most of the films listed sucked almost as badly as this mess.

Don Davis scored it - they used the theme by John Williams, and I read a review where Don said he sat down with John and they talked about it and John gave him access to all his notes from the first two films.

I haven't read any external reviews of this film, other than a few on epinions - EW didn't even have a review up today, which surprised me... and like I said in my review, I remember Siskel and Ebert giving it a huge thumbs down, they were disgusted with it actually.. you can hear it online still at http://www.siskel-ebert.com/ just do a search.

It wouldn't surprise me if Roeper likes the film - he seems to like anything an absent minded teenager or twenty-something would like nowadays. If Ebert gave this garbage a good review, then it's further proof he's done what he warned Harry Knowles never to do - sell himself out.

Thanks for reading...

A few things:

Ebert liked it. Not defending him, just offering it up as further evidence of his dementia.

John Williams scored it.

And if you'd have walked out too soon, you would've missed the pteronadons which were, as you say, the only thing of value in this mess.

Nice job.
