This movie limps its way through a badly written script without even the prop of interesting characters or acting...
Having been dragged to this movie {not a fan of sappy romances to begin with} I was at least hoping to be kept entertained by the premise of time travel, which I'm a bit interested in. However, unfortunately, this seemed to just be the same old Meg Ryan acting routine--classy,modern chick meets old-fashioned [REALLY old fashioned, in this case] fella, is swept off her feet by him, and they live happily ev... *snore*....
Since i have family and friends who like Meg Ryan and force me to go to movies of hers with me, I just wish they could give her some more interesting roles! Honestly, I do not blame her for simply walking through this one, as its been a role she's had to endure countless times. Please, for the love of Pete--won't SOMEONE send her an original, inspired script to consider??
The females in the group I saw this with all gooed happily over Hugh Jackman, so I suppose that's one reason to watch this film, though it wasn't primarily mine. He is certainly not hard on the eyes, but just isn't really very perfect type...I was more interested in their depictions of the past.
I wasn't too terribly disappointed. It probably was not very accurate, but as I'm no expert, I just enjoyed looking at the way they did it. The nice horseflesh was a welcome relief from the film as well, for I could go off on galloping rides in my imagination while the film limped behind me...
