Berserk Volume 1: War Cry, is the beginning of one of the best anime I have ever seen. The story stars Guts, a.k.a the Black Swordsman, as he looks back on his life. A life filled with tragedy, love, angst, and most importantly war. Along with the other members of the mercenary group, Band of the Hawk, Guts most not only survive the real-life battles of war, but the emotional battles within himself as well. The type of people that would enjoy this show are those who would enjoy a mix of drama, action, and fantasy. However, Berserk has it's drawbacks as well. First of all, it is absolutely not for children. With loads of blood, language, and sex, this story is purely for adults.
All in all, the Berserk series, which spans out over twenty-five episodes, contains a great story, great music, and great art which all tie in together making a great show.
