| st13's Full Review: Sharp FO 2950 Plain Paper Laser Fax |
This little nugget from Sharp is the third generation of a line that was nothing but trouble. But it seems that in this case, three strikes and it works! The vertical paper feed has been improved to the point that it actually works. Not that it didn't work in earlier models, but it had a handle that that you had to pull forward before loading paper into the tray. Most people forgot to pull the handle forward and the units would never feed paper even though the tray gave the appearance of being loaded correctly. Now, if you don't pull the handle forward, you can't load paper, solving the problem.
Other innovations include a redesigned drive unit that actually continues to work after the unit has a few "miles" on it. The common features that involve faxing are the same throughout the Sharp Product line. But the E-mail feature is new to this series and I haven't found a user yet that can explain to me how to use this feature. Of course, three years ago, these same users couldn't explain to me how to send a fax.
Don't get me wrong, I think this is a really good unit for the money and I'm impressed how Sharp learned it lessons from earlier models and corrected the problems. I just hope that soon, the users will be able to catch up with the technology.
