Pros: Pristine wilderness! What more can you ask for? I love Glacier.
Cons: The lake Sherburne Dam and the GPI concessions.
The Bottom Line: The classic Glacier Quote "I've been to Yosemite, and Yellowstone, nothing compares to GLACIER!!" nuff said.

| ralph27's Full Review: Glacier National Park |
I spent four summers in Glacier working at a cafe on the East side of the park between St. Mary's and Babb...so I will concentrate my opinion on the Eastern slope of the park. First of all there is only one road through the park "going to the sun road" which is where you will find the majority of the tourists, if you do any of the hikes away from this road...you will not see very many souls. There is a book by Cordon Edwards that details numerous peaks to climb in the park, not for the faint at heart, but easily attainable, and well worth the effort. The views are breath-taking, and the sheer exhilaration of standing on a peak surrounded by nothing but ancient Glaciated peaks is one that you will not be able to shake for years to come.
As far as food is concerned, DO NOT EAT AT THE LODGE, the lodges serve generic food served by disgruntled employees who work for penny pinching-slave driving managers who milk the dedicated employees for all they are worth in their four month stay. There are other options near every lodge except for the Many Glacier Lodge, which will force you to eat there unless you drive out of the valley to the Babb Bar. The Babb Bar is an old ruffians hang out (once voted the second roughest in the nation)which now houses the best steak house in the West. An amazing interior, with all the regular characters to go with it... the Steak house serves up STEAK, LOBSTER, RACK OF LAMB and CRAB LEGS. All are cooked to perfection, and the steaks are doused in the house marinade that is not to be underestimated! A little pricey, but well worth it for the carnivore connisseur.
Also on the east side is the Park Cafe, and Two Sisters Cafe, both serve similar fare, but the Sisters have the Park beat when it comes to their nightly specials. However, the Cafe has the Sisters beat when it comes to Homemade pie...it's as easy as that. East Glacier has a little town with Serranos, the only Mexican in the area, a deli, and a few other restaurants...enjoy!
And seriously get off the roads...the Griz aren't going to bite...just nibble.
