When my first child was born, I knew my life would change in many ways. Most alarming was the knowledge that I would now do many things I had previously laughed at others for doing. That's how I found myself buying a video camera (can a minivan be far off?)
But now, almost 4 years later, I am very happy with this camera. It is very easy to use. I like that you can turn on and off having the date and time on screen. The camera even automatically knows when it is a holiday and puts a holiday message on screen.
I've seen a lot of people here complain about the battery life. I don't have anything to compare it to, since it is the first video camera I have ever owned. But I don't find it a major hassle.
Of course I have taped the birthdays, first haircuts, and Christmases. But also, on recommendation from our insurance adjent, I have used this camera to video tape the belongings in our home, in case of fire or theft. And I keep it handy in case a UFO ever flies over our home (LOL).
In brief, if what you want is a basic, good, all-purpose video camera for an affordable price, this is it.
