I think that the CNET review describes this camera very well. I've had it for a couple of weeks and am very impressed. This is my first digital camera and I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pictures and the available feature. When I'm lazy, I can use it as a point and shoot, and when I feel more creative and want to experiment, there are many manual options for me to play with. I am particularly impressed with the flash capabilities. You can take a very good picuture in complete darkness...I can't do that with my Canon SLR. It would be nice if the camera had a bigger, more substantial grip, especially since it is reasonably heavy. If you're thinking of jumping to a digital camera and want some advanced features, you can't go wrong with this camera.
