Pros: Awesome construction and sound quality.
A good bargain retail or online.
Cons: Lighting is just a little much, but this is nitpicking.
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a high end HU without breaking the bank. Given it's cost and quality, I'd expect this unit to cost hundreds more.

| wolfie20004's Full Review: Alpine CDA-9813 Car CD/ MP3 Player |
As with other reviews that I've read regarding this unit, the first thing that struck me out of the box was the quality. Other CD players I've owned have felt and somewhat looked toyish. No this one. It's well made and looks really sharp installed in my '98 Ranger.
As far as lighting goes, I like the look of the 9815 better, but this is also a sharp looking unit and everything is easy to read.
The sound quality is everything I expected it to be, which is to say very clear and crisp, even at high volumes. I was amazed at the difference it made with my factory speakers, I had all but forgotten that I even had rears behind the seats.
Installation was a snap after I bought the correct harness combination from Circuit City. After snipping the hot wire at the radio end and running that to the battery along with the provided 20amp fuse (had to drill a hole in my firewall to do this) it fired right up. No surprises.
MP3 playback is great and being able to traverse the directories is really cool. I'd recommend this Head Unit to anybody. I bought mine online and saved $100.00 over retail, at $299.00 shipped this was a great deal.
