Pros: a ton of space. quiet. easy set up
Cons: only way to turn off when not using is unplugging it
The Bottom Line: lf you need more space this is a great alternative to a internal drive. A little more expensive but well worth it.

I purchased the 80g drive two weeks ago. So far it works great. I changed the format to ntfs with no problem. I store all my digital photos and music on the drive, not to fill up my internal 40g drive. The only thing I don't like is that when you shut down the drive still keeps on running. I emailed Maxtor and within one day I got a reply that said that a usb device cannot be controlled . They said it is made to run constantly and if you would like to turn it off just unplug the usb cable and then the power. I do this only when I am not using it for a long length of time. That the only con I have come up with. Really not a big deal. Oh ya the usb2.0 is suprisingly fast. Paid $200 at costco with a $50 off coupon. A great deal I think, that is in canadian dollars.
