I admit, with the printer and cartridges and documentation in hand, you'd in a better position than me to say. Perhaps track down the mfr's ratings, compare to other models in this price range, look at other reviews, guesstimate your usage to see if the mfr's and other numbers are believable.
I'm inclined to encourage shoppers to be careful, even "lite" printer users should do a little research and see if they would be better off paying a few more dollars for a more efficient printer.
Sorry to hear about your Canon. How long did it last? How long between printings? The question about how long cartridges and print heads can sit without usage is a good point, even harder to track down that kind of info. I don't see many complaints about Canon's, see a lot about Epsons, might also be interesting to report how long you let your Dell cartridges go between printings.

Prints/page would be hard to tell, given the rate at which I print. One of the things that apparently happened with the Canon is that we used it so rarely the print head gunked up.
So, other than keeping a tally sheet, you have any suggestions for tracking print usage?

I'd recommend the Dell 720 as a pretty good compromise position at a very good price.
I'd look beyond the front end price. How many prints/pages you get from those Dell cartridges will tell the tale....
