I bought this camera to replace my 2 megapixel Olympus digital camera as it was on sale for what was a great price for any name brand 5 megapixel camera.
I have been using if for 3 months now and I love it. The first thing I noticed was that it operates on standard AA batteries. The camera comes with 2 rechargeable 2100 mah Sony batteries and a charger. These batteries take a while to fully charge, but they last quite a long time before needing to be recharged. I view this as a feature because it is nice to be able to quickly purchase a couple of alkaline AA batteries if you are out and your batteries are running low.
Another thing which stands out on this camera is how quickly it saves the pictures to memory. After taking a picture (without a flash), it is ready in about 1 second to take another photo. This is, by far, the fastest I've experienced. the next photo. When using the flash, it takes longer as the flash needs to recharge.
Other pluses are the ease-of-use with menus that allow you to change focus, ISO speed, picture resolution, picture quality, special effects, etc. The camera also has a feature which allows you to record video. I have not used this as I have a MiniDV camera for video. You can also take a picture and add sound to it with a built-in microphone on the camera.
Now for the annoyances...
The first thing that I always question with digital camera (and this certainly isn't an exception) is what's the deal with the included memory. For most manufacturers, there seems to be little regard for including a memory card which is at least usable. This camera came with an 8Mb memory stick which held about 4 photos. Woohoo!
Another thing which was missing was the ability to save the file as a TIF or even in raw format. Not that I do this, but it would be nice to have that option. Nope, this camera only saves in JPG format.
Lastly, there is no firewire interface. What?! This is Sony, right? This company has a firewire interface on everything they make (except for this camera). They do, however, have a USB 2.0 port, instead.
Conclusion

The pictures I have taken are awesome. This camera truly is point and shoot. When it has trouble auto focusing, it turns on this beam of red light which helps it focus. It was really weird the first time it happened as it caught me off guard. But, it must work as the pictures are always in focus. The color is handled well also. I have this setup to adjust everything automatically and it adjusts well for indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, etc. I truly love this camera.
This is the camera to buy if you want quality pictures, but don't need a professional level of control within the camera.
