Pros: Amazing suction power. Easy to empty dust bin. No bags/filters to replace.
Cons: On/Off button on handle rather than at foot level, it's heavy.
The Bottom Line: Once you try this vacuum, you'll never again wonder how people can spend $400 on a vacuum. It's powerful, bagless, has a washable HEPA filter...I recommend this to anyone.

| bluedot-79's Full Review: Dyson DC11 Allergy Bagless Canister Cyclonic Vacuu... |
Okay, so when I told my husband that it was time to get a new vacuum, he barely even looked up from the TV
that is, until I mentioned that the one I wanted was priced at about $400. Yep. That got his attention.
Of course, he just told me I was nuts and then went back to his game.
But, here I am, only months later, writing my review on this machine
Go Figure.
Honestly, I was tired of spending $150 on a normal vacuum, only to hate it in a few months, and end up buying another one in two years. So, as we were getting ready to move into our new house, I knew that I did not want to take my old Eureka with me. It was time to upgrade
and I mean really upgrade. I wanted something that could handle the pet hair that had plagued my apartment floors for years. I wanted the Dyson DC07 Upright Vacuum, and it took some time, but my husband eventually agreed.
Features:
**17ft Extension hose with quick-draw release from unit
**35 ft powercord
**Trigger-release clear 1-gallon dust bin (no bags!)
**Lifetime clog-free HEPA filters (theyre washable)
**Automatic carpet height adjustment
**Edge whiskers to reach baseboard dust and debris
**Reversible extension wand with handle
**2-year manufacturers warranty
**12 amp motor
**270 airwatts constant suction power
**On-board tools: crevice tool, brush, flat lint tool
**Floor tool for cleaning under couches and beds, etc.
ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: The Dyson vacuum cleaners sold in the US are all the same model DCO7, but the various price levels come in different colors. The differences in price are due to the various attachments and/or additional warranty periods included, not machine performance.
What I like:
First off, the suction power on this unit is incredible! Even with the dust bin full, it loses none of its strong suction. Dyson explains this on their website saying Spinning air creates centrifugal force. By making the air stream spin, dirt and debris are subjected to centrifugal force. The dirt and debris are thrown out of the air. Because the airflow is unobstructed, there is nothing to clog, and suction power remains constant. What exactly does that mean? Well, in short, this machine remains powerful room after room.
Also, beyond the initial cost of this unit, you will never have to spend any more money on various replacement supplies such as bags or filters. Its strange to talk about how you save money by spending $400 on a vacuum, but HEPA vacuum filters are not cheap (I believe that the filters for my old Eureka ran about $15-$18 each).
I also love the 1-gallon hands-free dust bin. This thing holds a ton of dirt
it can easily keep up with the tons of dog hair in my house. With my old Eureka, I had to empty the bin at least twice while vacuuming my house, but the Dyson DC07 can handle the whole house. Plus, emptying the bin is a breeze. You simply remove the bin from the unit, hold it over the trash can, and pull the trigger. All the dust and dirt in the bin just falls from the bottom. No fuss. No mess. No banging the bin to get all of the dirt out. Its great!
The extension on this vacuum is more than Ive ever seen before. First, the cord is 35 feet long! You no longer have to unplug every time you change rooms! Also, the extension wand will expand 17 feet from the unit. This means that you can have the unit sitting at the bottom of your staircase and clean to the top of the stairs without a problem. I love it!
I also love the reversible wand. Now, if you've never physically seen this unit, you're probably wondering what the heck I'm talking about. Well, here is how it works. The extension on this vacuum is actually the handle. It is removable from the unit itself, and can be used in two ways. First, you can just vacuum (and add attachments) to the tip of the handle itself. Or, you can remove the tube from the bottom and turn the handle upside down to use the extension wand. It's really a great feature once you get used to it.

What I don't like:
There are only two very minor things that I don't like about this vacuum.
First, the fact that the power on/off button isn't at floor level drives me nuts. Every vacuum that I've ever owned or used has always had a on/off foot button...except this one. Months later, I'm still trying to kick the bottom to turn on the vaccum. Silly, but it makes me crazy.
Second, this vacuum is pretty heavy. I haven't quite figured out if it's the fact that the vacuum weighs 19 pounds, or if the powerful suction makes it harder to push. But, either way, it's a lot heavier than my old Eureka.
Other than that, I love this machine.
Warranty Information:
This vacuum comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. For more information, check out www.dyson.com.
Overall Feelings:
For me, this vacuum is not only worth dealing with the two "cons", but worth the $400 price tag as well. It really does a great job cleaning my floors.
Ease of Use: Excellent - Anyone could use this vacuum. Although, you may want to try it out at the store to make sure it's not too heavy for you.
Durability: Excellent - The tags on this machine tell me that it's made out of space age plastics -- the kind they make crash helmets and cars of. It certainly doesn't feel like it will wear out very quickly.
Ease of Cleaning: Excellent -- Cleaning out the dust bin is so simple. Also, the filters are easy to wash out in the sink or with a hose.
Style: The Dyson Vacuum is very funky and colorful. I happen to think it looks neat, but since it usually will sit in the closet anyway, what difference does style make, really?
So, the real test was how my husband reacted to this vacuum. Let me tell you, his love of this new "toy" has been worth way more than the $400 we spent on it. As soon as he tried it out, he wouldn't give it up. Here I was, anxious to try out the darn thing...and my husband goes and vacuums the entire house with it! (I'm talkin' he even cleaned the ceiling fans and baseboards!) He never vacuumed before getting this unit, but now, he loves to help me out with the housework! (Hee! Hee! Hee!)
Update 4/16/2005:
A year has passed since I wrote this review, and I'll be honest, I still cannot find anything to gripe about. I've gotten used to the on/off button and the weight of it. I still wouldn't want to haul it up and down a staircase, but I live in a one story house, so it works well for me. This machine is fantastic!
