I've used other Rotary Epilators (Philips and Remington) over the years and they are great machines for pain, if your into that sort of thing and they never did work very well.
However, this Twin Rotary Epilator works smoothly, has a strong motor & is relatively quite(compared to other models that I have used), and has a skin safety feature that really works. If your skin gets caught in machine, it disengages and no pain. Trust me it will happen once in a while. This alone is a big plus. I can tell you from experience, it does work.
Also, since it has twin rows instead of usual one, for each
pass it's like doing two passes. This saves time when
removing hair. This two row design is sort of like the Marc
3 blades does for razors with three blades on each pass.
Since the two rows turn in different directions your skin
stays taut, the results are it sort of glides across your
skin easily and much less skin pinching and not like any of
those single row models(even the ones with a skin taut bar).
The Optima, even removes those fines hairs.
This model is only corded while other single row Emjoi
models of this company, do have corded/battery or just
battery.
I believe the Optima is the only Twin Rotary Epilator being made at this time. I believe the cost is justified because
of all the needed features built into this Twin Rotary Epilator and they work so well.
A corded model only, is lighter and easy to work with even
through your tethered to a cord. I believe a battery only
model wouldn't have the needed staying power needed to work all the mechanical gears very effectively, while using.
Of course,,,,,,my other half luvs it smooth. Hint: very
important.
