| bridget_1961's Full Review: Gateway AR-230 DVD Recorder |
To ANYONE who is even thinking of buying the GATEWAY AR-230 DVD Recorder, DON'T. It worked normally for about the first 4 months, then it would no longer record on time and it no longer recognized NOR recorded on the DVD+R media disks I recorded with 4 months previously on. So, I returned it and was sent a new replacement. After a while, the DVD+R media stopped working AGAIN, So I was forced to use the DVD+RW format because my warranty was expired, and that worked for a while but after about another 4 months, the unit failed to play or record on the DVD+RW disks as well and I got the DISTINCT feeling and impression that this unit would NOT be worth spending money to repair. And by the way, my brother also purchased the exact same unit I did, and his unit had the EXACT same problems as well, and he has had to return HIS 2 times!
PLEASE, don't be fooled by the low price you pay for this unit and although I KNOW that oftentimes price does not ALWAYS equate to quality, and with this Gateway DVD recorder you will NOT be saving money in the long-run because you will have to continue to pay to return it to be fixed or if you have a warranty, you will be sent another new one and it will ALSO end up not working either!
