sawillems's Full Review: Logitech Harmony® 659 LCD Remote Control
I have just received this product from E-bay ($100). For what I needed it appears perfect. I had 4 remotes and was able to put them into a drawer and everyone in my family can now run the entire system with this remote. The Help button may appear cheesy, but it works like a charm. I was fortunate to have all my components listed on the webpage and everything works like I had hoped.
Do not be intimidated by the web interface. It is very simple.
I was leery of buying an older remote when there were newer versions available, but it is everything I have expected and more. It works all my newer devices (DVD/VCR combo just bought last week, HDTV, HD-cable box) flawlessly.
I wanted a remote that would operate all the different components needed without having to press each component separately. For instance, to watch "TV", I change the channels through a Motorola cable box with HD. I adjust the volume through my A/V receiver (Denon) and the picture is displayed on my Sony TV. Once you press the "Watch TV" activity button all I have to do is adjust the volume by pressing the up/down button labeled "VOL" (Wow, it works like it should). To change the channels I can either use the up/down button, enter the channel number via the punch pad, or even scroll the menu with the use of the arrows. All these work just like the buttons you would use on the original remote. Even the most common TV uses are available without having to press anything other than the right function button (PIP, Aspect, etc). Whatever buttons you would use on the original remote are available on this Harmony without macros, goofy button sequences, or crazy directions. You want to change a channel, push the channel up button. Can't hear the game because your 1 year is screaming? Hit the volume up button and presto, Dick Vitale is screaming at you.
If you are considering this remote, BUY IT.
