dustj7j's Full Review: GrandTec Virtually Indestructible Keyboard FLX-200...
The appearence/concept behind the keyboard is that because it is made of a gel-like substance it can be rolled up, flopped around, thrown off buildings, etc etc. For the average person, we don't have to worry about our keyboards being thrown off buildings, but, I'd say it would catch most people's attention by it's handling of a rough environment. Linux newbies who hit their PC peripherals in anger and rage may want to consider this before you try to install a Linux distro.
The keys on this keyboard make no sound when typing. If they do after you get it, then something is wrong or you are taking your fist and pounding the keyboard to prove me wrong. With this keyboard, you don't strike the keys, your fingers press and depress them gently.
The keyboard is great, from the time I got it to the time I had to type a few thousand word essays I have enjoyed it. After you purchase this computer, before you replace your old keyboard with this, make sure you have a while to test it out. I reccomend after installing this keyboard, if you have a first person shooter, try it. Then try a racing game, after that maybe a rpg game. Then move on to typing, instant messaging, maybe writing some code. Just don't get this keyboard and launch straight into typing some huge term paper, it wouldn't do the board justice. You have to take a little time to get used to it, and get used to not hitting the keys so hard, and eventually, you'll find that typing on this board becomes easier and less energy consuming since you dont have to move your fingers as harshly. I remember one day typing on my keyboard, then the next typing on my school's white plain boards and thinknig to myself, "This sucks so much." It is worth the buy, but it deserves a little patience until you become used to it. Let yourself gop through your games and apps and get to know the keys you use a lot. Now, say if your looking at a wireless versus this keyboard, then that would be a toss up for me. Wireless offers mobility, while the VIK offers comfort. Until the VIK is wireless then for a new buyer, that would be my only question I would ask myself. Are you one for comfort, or one for mobility and extras.
