Is wireless worth it?

I've had the MX700 for 10 months, and I can see the mouse is starting to show physical damage: spots on both right and left buttons, on the hand palm, under and on the sides. The wireless doesn't lag, and when you see the red light flashing, you still got a few hours of computing before it shuts down. I am not sure it's worth the price difference, but it sure is convenient. The mouse is too heavy, and has too many buttons: I have never used "program switch", and rarely "up" and "down", but "next" and "back" are useful. The battery lasts for about 2-5 days, depending on the usage.
