Pros: This particular model looks nice, doesn't take up too much room, and has several options.
Cons: poor customer service, the washing machine has a design flaw: no filter on water pump
The Bottom Line: My vote: save your money and buy something else. The washer's design flaw may mean many visits from the repair technician. At the very least, don't buy it from Sears.
wakazula's Full Review: Maytag MAH2400A Front Load Washer
Our Maytag / Sears experience has been a night mare. If you own a Maytag product purchased at Sears, your warranty will *only* be covered by Sears. Sears has clearly told me "if you have your machine repaired by *anyone* other than a Sears technician (including a certified Maytag repairman), your warranty will be null and void". To date, we have experienced the following...
WATER PUMP
The washer's pump does not have a filter. Which means, if you accidentally put loose change in the washer, there is a good chance you will break the pump. See service rates below.
ESTIMATED TIME
When you start a load of laundry the display console will give you an estimated time of completion. That number may be off by as much as 25 minutes.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
This is how it works:
1) You call Sears and book an appointment for a technician to come.
2) The technician is supposed to call you 24 hours in advance to confirm the appointment (this may or may not happen).
3) At best, you will be given a 4 hour window of when the technician will arrive. Chances are the appointment will be between
Monday to Friday (9:00 to 5:00). For us that meant I had to book time off work.
To date, we have booked 2 separate service calls. On both occasions the technician was a no show. This means I have wasted 2 vacation days. More than 5 hours (no joke) on the phone with customer service has resulted in: "If you wish to speak to a manager I can leave a note for him, in the meantime would you like to book another appointment?"
