I have been using an ETX-60AT for about 6 months now. It is a competent 60mm refractor. It does what it does well -- tracking mars at 162X (which is much higher than the recommended maximum magnification for this scope) is good enough that mars remains in the field for several minutes, even with a fake easy align.
This scope is really well suited for wide-field views, since the mount is none too sturdy and it's SMALL. Because of the small 60mm aperture, it's not really good at higher powers, except on the moon. Saturn at 116X is indistinct, the cassini division cannot be resolved.
The problem with wide field views (e.g. with the included 25mm MA eyepiece, M31, the Andromeda Galaxy, just fits in the FOV) is that.. with the 60mm aperture, you won't be seeing a lot of wide-field objects. From my mag4 suburban skies, only M31's core was resolved, and faintly to boot. My 70mm binoculars did a better job. The 14X magnification with the 25mm eyepiece does frame M45 the Pleiades very nicely.
However, all things considered, a 6" Dobsonian (e.g. Orion's SkyQuest XT6) for roughly the same price, will be a better deal. Sure the ETX-60 has Autostar, tracking, etc. But it's simply too small that you'll quickly outgrow it if you want to see lots of stuff.
