| chposter's Full Review: Mpio FL100 (256 MB) MP3 Player |
Been looking for several years to make the leap. Played with several players in the stores. Bought an RCA Lyra 1080 and returned it after suffering through really bad hiss (they give you bad headphones so you won't notice, with earbuds, it is horrible).
I use it mostly during working out - stairmaster and lifting. So, I was looking for a small unit with enough room to allow music choices depending on my mood. The leather belt clip holder is perfect for my usage. One AAA battery lasting 15 hours is great!
The FM receiver is very good compared to the RCA I tried. It has voice and FM recording, but I am not sure how much I will really use them. The mp3 playback quality is very good. The 5 band equalizer is awesome. I have not expanded with SD cards yet, but will someday. The hold button is quick and easy to use (the RCA hold took too much time to use). Folder support is quite nice.
The english in the manual is poor, though it seems to be fairly thorough (the RCA was not thorough).
This unit advertises that you can update the flash when they have software updates. This will allow them to support new SD sizes, fix any bugs, etc.
The one thing that really needs to be fixed is that the player is not recognized as a disk by windows, like the RCA player many digital cameras are. You have to use their software - which isn't bad once you get used to it, but it would be nice to have it recognized as a disk.
Don't want to spend too much? The 128mb version is probably also good if the only difference is the memory. Then you can add SD later.
