The kind of review that would make Consumer's Report envious (Reply to this comment)
by altecocker
This truly splendid review covered everything I would want to know about this camera. It was a bit verbose and occasionally tangential, but this actually added to the enjoyment of reading the review. If I hadn't already bought this camera, I would have done so after reading Howard's comments, and been very glad for the decision. I have spent many years writing and editing and found this review not only useful but actually well written. I will search for Howard Creech's reviews when I am contemplating any purchase.

Manual Focus (Reply to this comment)
by djrose
This camera was rated a Best Buy in Consumer Reports' November issue.

Would you know of any equally good and relatively inexpensive camera which includes manual focus?

"But I don't think manual white balancing will be missed in a camera such as this. Indeed, I've yet to meet an amateur who even knows what this means much less had a want to adjust WB."

Well, now you've met one. I want manual everything as an option (Even if I rarely use it). And yes, I know what WB is and I often would like some control over it.

Leave it to Olympus (Reply to this comment)
by sweeper, sweeper is an Advisor on Epinions in Electronics
to be a leader in compact digicams. Still sad that they've all but left the 35mm SLR business, I've always been a fan of their compact cameras. I go all the way back to owning one of their half-frame 35mm point and shoots that I gave to my brother. His shots from his time as an Air Force pilot still grace the offices of bases all over the world. I've owned many Olympus Stylus models from 35mm to a very late model digital. They've always been small but never compromised in favor of cuteness. I'm sure the C60 is as you described. But I don't think manual white balancing will be missed in a camera such as this. Indeed, I've yet to meet an amateur who even knows what this means much less had a want to adjust WB.

Incidentally, because you mention color saturation control, I'm looking for to the Fujifilm S3 Pro. I've always wished digicam makers could offer a setting that would mimic certain 35mm films. For instance, the user who is shooting a wedding could select a low-contrast, simu-film setting such as NPS or VPS to shoot a wedding. The next day the user to set a high resolution film such as Velvia or Provia. Turns out the S3 will have such a function and I'm glad this SLR is being made by Fujifilm. Who else to be expert in mimicing NPS or Velvia?

This was another super review. The only thing missing is a link to your web site on which we can see some of these images.
