| StevieP's Full Review: Uniden EXAI 7980 900 MHz - Cordless Phone |
I had this evil phone for just about a year. I probably could have turned it back in to Uniden for replacement or repair, but I rather enjoyed taking the handset and hurling it across the room and watching it crash on the tile floor. The main part of the phone cracks open easily with just 3 slams into the iron back of a Pier One barstool. To actually break up the plastic into smaller pieces you'll need to have a good hard surface like concrete or brick. I choose concrete and had good luck.
So maybe I do need therapy...but I could argue that I need it because of this dreaded phone. It's just pathetic. In car terms, it's a like a old Chevette. Hopeless American design, terrible handling and unreliable.
Sure...it has a impressive list of features for the money. That's why i bought it. Shopping in the window it's a no brainer. It has speaker phone, caller id, call waiting caller id, digital answering machine and more. But each and every feature has it's own annoying problem. It's like torture and a bad algebra problem to learn to use the speaker phone. The caller ID takes about 7 minutes per name to scroll through. You could track down the person who called with a detective quicker than this phone can. The computer prompts on the answering machine are painfully slow. Don't call to pick up your messages unless you have a two day vacation. But perhaps the single most annoying problem with this phone, and the thing that brought me to the moment of smashing, is the battery. Since the day i bought (and fully charged my battery before use) this phone has never given me power for more than 10 minutes of calling. It's terrific for times when you really need an excuse to get off the phone. Thank goodness I kept my old Sony. Even though its 7 years old...its battery out powers the Uniden by miles.
Did I mention I hate this phone?
