| freestyle77's Full Review: Pioneer Elite DVR-57H (120 GB) DVD Recorder |
I bought this set it up myself, I have a mid-high end system, so there were a lot of wires to connect. I have direct tv service with a Sony sat receiver. At first I had several problems with moving programming to DVD. The recorder was not reading the media, and I tried several different brands, etc., but it was hit or mis at best - very frustrating. I was glad I purchased the extended warranty because I thought I was going to use it. That said, I keep it hooked up to the phone line and one day I received a message that a new software patch had been loaded. Poof no more DVD recording problems since then. I have been extremely happy with this product, and in fact looking to buy another one for another room. We seem to keep too many children's programs on there and starting to fill up 120 gigs. My brother bought one at the same time and has had no problems with his as well. I bought this one at Tweeter for $799 plus tax, and the extended warranty was $99.99; you can buy the unit much cheaper now. Again, my family has loved this thing, and not sure I can stand watching TV with out it.
