Pros: Enables you to play MP3 songs without computer.

Cons: External flash cards are expensive.

The Diamond Rio in my opinion is one of the best portable MP3 players out, if not the best. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. I've had one since August of 1999. I have had nothing but fun with the Rio. I haven't had any problems or misfunctions with it and it is very easy to use. It has great sound quality and if you want to spend another three dollars you can buy an adapter from and electronics store that connects to the headphones part of the Rio and into the audio plugs of a stereo and you can listen to your MP3s on your stereo. If you love music and hate paying high prices for CDs then you need to get the Diamond Rio.
