Pros: stylish and compact. sound is decent if you buy better earphones.
Cons: does not play loud enough ,rip off ripping software, flimsy battery case door.lousy earphones
The Bottom Line: the cheap battery cover that finally cracked made me exchange it for something way better the 2nd time around.the bottom line? iPoD ROCKS!

| selimsivad's Full Review: Samsung Yepp YP-700 (128 MB) MP3 Player |
when i bought this baby i was excited as this was my first mp3 player.however my excitement would soon die down. i liked the compactness and stylish look. the sound was o.k but not good enough for what the thing cost. first of all like many have already stated, this thing just cannot get loud enough and is easily drowned out in a noisy environment
such as a subway ride or walking on a noisy street etc.
i found the earbuds lousy, as on certain tunes i listened to i would get some distortion from the saxophone or acoustic bass. you see i listen to jazz and sound quality is the number 1 thing for me. the test of any stereo, mp3 player etc. is how it can handle sensitive music. however when i connected different earbuds to it i did not get that distortion. for the price you pay they should have given better quality earbuds.
i also found out quickly that 128mb built in memory was not enough and added another 128megs to bring the player to its full storage capacity of 256 megs but this was still not enough for me as i found myself having to erase and download new playlists to the unit too often.
the software it came with for ripping was a joke because after a certain amount of rips it will not do any more unless you go online and pay some money to upgrade the program so u can do unlimited cd ripping. This is a RIP OFF! i just used other software for this job.
last but not least the battery compartment needed tape to keep it shut as it was flimsily constucted.it even cracked with out handling it roughly, i never dropped it. when this happened i brought it back to where i bought it and paid the extra money to exchange it for an iPod.
iPoD rules!! great sound , amazing storage i have about 46 jazz cds stored on it (372 tunes) and still have 7GB plus space left on the 10gb model. data tranfer of 400Mbs sure beats the crap out of the puny usb transfer rate for the yepp.
