| b_voyager's Full Review: Sony Walkman D-FJ401 Personal CD Player |
This is an absolutely wonderful CD player. I needed a new one a couple months ago when my Philips broke for no reason and so I researched and bought this one. I have been completely satisfied. I knew it would be good coming from Sony, but I was still truly impressed.
The Radio
The radio is great. I can get stations clearly that I can't even hear with my boombox. Also, the player has three favorite station buttons so that you can switch at the touch of a finger. Digital is the only way t go with a radio and you can even control the bass on the air. It has plenty of regular station presets too.
The Player
The player itself is light and thin making it perfect for around the house and exercise. It has all the standard features (track repeat, CD repeat, etc.) with a two level bass control as an extra.
The Control
As I stated before there are three convenient favorite stations buttons. Also, there is a TV button which allows you to hear you local TV station's current audio stream. There is a weather band control too, but I have never been able to figure out what that is for or how it works (me and the manual have never had a heart to heart chat so if you want it, figure it out for yourself). The way they set up the standard buttons in innovative as well. Play, stop, next track, previous track and so forth are situated as a circle. I know that sounds strange and you really have to see it in person to understand. Just rest assured its easy to understand and a great idea.
The look
Whatever people may say, looks are important in a CD player. This one looks great. The colors perfectly complement each other. Even the text on the player looks good.
The Sound
One word. Perfect. Bass control is a must for great sound because different people prefer different levels. Again, this player surpasses all others.
The Battery
I was shocked after having a Philips that two AA batteries could fuel a player for as long as this one makes them go. I haven't timed it exactly, but I swore once that the thing somehow recharged when I turned it off.
The Wear and Tear
Being as light as it is, I would worry if somebody (meaning me. If it was someone else they would have to die) dropped one of these, but for normal exposure to hazard (the occasional book slamming in the backpack), she's good to go.
The End
I have no complaints whatsoever and I am (other people say this not me until now) hard to please. You will never regret buying one.
P.S. If you are considering the white sports Sony CD player as well I will only warn you that the reason I bought this one instead was not because of the price. It was because I heard through the line that that one is hard to use/carry/handle around the house.
