| bruno1997's Full Review: RCA DRC8000N DVD Recorder |
I agree with most of the other reviewers about the shortcomings (especially the pathetic users manual) of the DRC8000N,HOWEVER,in my opinion and for my main functions, (copying Home Video tapes and Movies from digital Cable to DVDs), it has one over-riding PLUS which outweighs any minor flaws-it produces outstanding DVD video quality from analog sources. The Time Base Corrector and Digital Noise Reduction (whatever they are) circuitry succeeds spectacularly well in cleaning up the signal from my HI8 ,standard 8mm ,and VHS tapes. The DVDs produced (in the best quality setting) by this slightly buggy and eccentric machine are often sharper and clearer than the source tape (Ive compared them side by side)magical. And they work just fine on my other (cheap Magnasonic) player. It also will play anything Ive thrown at it, including movies burned on my puter using DVDXCOPY (unlike the experience of a previous reviewer). Unless it just stops working, Im happy as a hog in slop.
