Pros: It really will consolidate all remotes into this one device.
Cons: It takes some time.
The Bottom Line: BUY IT... best hard button remote for the price. Works great!

I'm not a big fan of the all LCD universal remotesj; They don't give good feel to channel surfing and you have to spend all your time looking at the screen on the remote. So this VL-1000 is a great hardbutton compromise. It does a great job of explaining all programming functions and works great. I have a very complex Pro-grade amp. and was suprized how smoothly this remote worked with most daily features of my surround sound system. If you really want to clear your coffee table, this is a great choice. It did take me a little bit of time (4-6 hours non-stop) to fully program this unit. I think Sony could of made it more user friendly, but if you read the manual cover to cover you will be amazed how nice this remote works. The price is Great ($79) for what it does. Once you get the hang of it, the learning feature is great. The LCD screen is not very easy to read (so make sure you see the eye doctor prior to getting it), that is my biggest complaint.
