STARCRAFT is a breakthrough in the stratagy game genre. It redefines the word play balance by having three distinct races. Other games will achieve this by having two races with very similar units. Its not like this in STARCRAFT. The three races are nothing alike. The first race you will probably play is the Terran race. This race works very well with combined arms. The second race is the Zerg. Which are very fast but weak. And the third race is the Protoss. They are very powerful, but take a long time to build. After you master the excellent single player campaign you can play multiplayer. Blizzard offers several options. The first is BATTLE.NET which keeps tracks of stats and record. This may sound cool, but unless you have a PII or better you probably better of sticking to LAN or MODEM games. Another bonus is, if your friend doesn't have the Game you can share it with him throught a feature called spawning. The single player missions are unique and enthralling. The third mission of the Terran campaign is very scary. When you get good enough you can enter tournements at BATTLE.NET. There is also a map editor which is very easy and fun to use. There is no downside to this game. And you can get it for only 30 bucks(includes STARCRAFT:BROODWAR and two players guides. Overall this game is a great value. I've had it for almost 2 years and I'm still not tired of it.
