Pros: Price, color changing, hi/low pass filter control, sub control
Cons: probably doesn't rate well on the cool head units to own list
The Bottom Line: If you are on a budget, buy this... you won't regret it.

| nhspike's Full Review: Sony CDX-CA810X Car CD Player |
When I choose to upgrade the cassette player to a CD in my continental, it was mostly an impulse kind of thing...
I did no shopping, just walked by the radios in the local WalMart and said, "Hey, this one let's you change colors!" and bought it.
Well, I've since learned a bunch... and spent some more money on the sound system... I've upgraded all four speakers, added an MTX Bluethunder Pro amp, and 15" Kicker Comp subwoofer and the Sony head unit is keeping up very nicely, thank you.
The head unit is only powering the front speakers at this point, but does so cleanly/with gusto well into the "why would you ever want it that loud" zone.
Having control of the high pass and low pass crossover frequencies and sub level all from the deck sure saves a lot of trips to the trunk for knob-tweaking... very useful!
I also like the DSO, at least the first level of it... really brings out the highs... the second and third levels are a bit harsh for my ear.
Built in 7 EQ's are nice too, and you can tweak all of them them to your liking.
I have intentions of upgrading to an Alpine/Nak/Eclipse type head unit at some point, but I'm not in a hurry... and this one will find a home in my Fiat when I do so.
