| awschon's Full Review: Aprica Royale Sprint 846 / 4203 Standard Stroller |
Our son is thirteen months old and he has had two strollers up to now. The first one was a far too heavy Cosco stroller that was part of a travel system and took up half of our trunk. The second was a Graco Breeze stroller, which weighed about ten pounds less (at 16 lbs) and took up about 1/3 of our trunk, and was fairly comfortable for our son. But nearing our first vacation with the baby, we decided we needed a stroller that was more compact, but comfortable and durable. I researched and tried multiple brands and models of strollers. Enter the Aprica Sprint Royale. I found it priced as high as $230 in some places online. Reviews were scarce and basically, the only two I found were here on epinions.com, one of which was written by a person who never owned this stroller and gave less than a beaming report. But I liked the features on the stroller and I found it on sale at one website for $74. So we ordered it - and I am so glad we did. It is a wonderful stroller. Lightweight at 9.5 lbs, (it has an aluminum frame) and folds compactly, like an umbrella stroller. The seat pad is thick and comfortable and can be set and reclined at ANY - yes, that's right folks - ANY position from straight up to a 140 degree angle; a relief for all parents who are tired of having a stroller with only 2 or 3 positions, or even 5. This one adjusts to any old position you or your baby desire. The canopy is weather proof and locks in place so your baby cannot push it back if you choose to use the lock. The handle is a nice height - I am 5'1 and my husband is 6'0 and we are both very comfortable pushing it. The tires have a lifetime warranty and they roll smoothly and have nice brakes that work well. There is a removable padded bar that goes across the front of the stroller. My son loves to hold onto the bar and you can attach stroller toys to it. It also does not obstruct baby's view, like some larger and bulky tray bars do on other strollers. (Our son's Graco prevented his seeing lots of animals at the zoo and we had to carry him through practically the entire park - what a workout that was!) Parents will want to be aware that there are no cupholders or trays on this stroller, but you can buy a cupholder for both you and the baby and attach them to the stroller, for $3-$5 each at Toys'R'Us and other major stores. Also, the basket is not very large on this stroller and the book that comes with the stroller says it can hold up to six pounds. This will accommodate your purse (or a smallish diaper bag) and a couple of toys and bottles or sippy cups. Since our son is not a small infant, we do not need to carry our whole house with us anymore and this works out well for us. If you want to load a million items up in the basket, you will find that it is not very accommodating on that end. However, in every other respect, this is a terrific stroller, and we have not had any problems or convenience issues with it. It is safe and comfortable for our child and we are very happy with our purchase. Would buy an Aprica stroller again, but would look for it on sale. I would not have paid $230 for this stroller, or any stroller, unless it changed diapers for me!
