This TV works as expected, and gives good picture and sound.
Its main defect is poor controls, unlabeled on the set, and minimal. It is impossible in ordinary lighting to see which button is channel up, and which channel down; or volume up, volume down. All four are identical, and the same color as the rest of the case. There is also a power button, labeled in such small type that it cannot be read without getting inches away.
Everything else must be controlled by an poorly designed remote-control. Furthermore, the remote has a very poor lifespan: our first gave out after a year, and was replaced. The new one now does not work. It is really hardly worth paying what the new remotes cost. Without the remote, one cannot make any adjustments, and cannot select to play DVDs and tapes. One must select channels by clicking individually, one step at a time, through 70 channels.
Remotes should not be necessary to run a simple TV. Controls should be easy to see, not hidden to blend into obscurity. I would gladly buy a good TV with no remote, if anyone would offer one. But if there is a remote, at least that remote should work.
Toshiba needs to work on the design and quality control of these things.
