| alectosis's Full Review: Famous Daves |
Famous Dave's recently opened up in my area (in Addison, directly across from the Marcus iMAX), so I decided to give it a try. It was about 6:00pm and the place was packed. I waited outside for about 30-40 minutes as I hummed the tune to many of the Jazz songs playing outside. My signal to go in was the vibrating pager (with a range of about 15 yards, so it can't go into a car). I noticed the aroma of BBQ as I looked over at an advertisment stating that they catered the George W. Bush caucuss party. I was quickly seated by a hostess. The table provided a good amount of space with a wide assortment of sauces. Sweet n' Sassy, Devil Spit, Texas Pit, Honey Mustard. They also provided a full paper towel roll on a spindle to help rid your fingers of BBQ sauce. I ordered a Rib an Meat combo which gave you the choice of getting a half order or ribs as well as many other entrees. I choose the hot BBQ Wings in addition to the ribs. I had time to notice all the interesting stuff on the walls that bring thoughts of hunting and barbequeing. The meal arrived shortly after. For my sides I choose Steak Fries and Drunken Apple. I first tasted my sides. The steak fries were ok, but not something I'd order again. The Drunken apple was covered in a sweet sauce as well as some other type of liquor I'm guessing. The Drunken Apple was ok, but it just didn't catch the attention of my taste buds. I noticed that the BBQ Wings were VERY small, but they were good. They were coated in Famous Daves Devil Spit sauce. They wings wern't very hot, but this is coming from a person who binge eats Habeneros peppers. I next moved on to the ribs. The bones were large, but there was still a good amount of mean on them. They wern't the type of ribs the have meat falling off the bone. They tasted a little bit dry, so I drizzled on a mixture of Devil Spit and Texas Pit sauces. This really upped the flavor. The price was fair considering the portions that you get. If I remember correctly the rib/wing combo was $12, and that was one of the more expensive items on the list.
