Introduction
IHOP has become a very frequent stop for us. For Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No matter what the time or occasion, IHOP is always an option. This chain seems to be very hit and miss though, some are incredible, some make you wonder what you REALLY just ate. Lucky for us, most in the Amarillo area are in the first category.
The Food
The food here is great. I absolutely have fallen in love with their breakfast. Eggs, Hashbrowns, Bacon, Sausage, Toast, its all good! Even though I have been there countless times, it still takes me tons of time to order. Unlike some of my experiences at Denny's, this place leaves me full and happy. They also serve lunch and dinner here as well. I've eaten here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and can safely say that this place really cleans up. Everything from succulent desserts to tasty meals at your local Ihop. Trust me, You will really frequent IHOP if you give it a decent chance. The food gets an A+ from me.
Food Price
The Food pricing here varies quite a bit. If you are like me and "Build" your orders (# of eggs, pieces of bacon etc.), expect to pay around 12 dollars for your meal. If you order one of their combos or meals, then expect to pay around 7 to 10 dollars a meal. The appetizers they serve are fairly cheap as well, and will run you about 4 dollars. Desserts here will consistantly cost you about 7 dollars too. The food pricing here is fair, just be sure to stick to "their" meals. The prices get an A- from me.
The Employees
The employees here must not be getting paid enough or something. Almost every time I have eaten here, whenever I ask for a refill, their "smile" drops into a scowl, and they walk off to get a drink. At first I thought I had just gotten a bad waitress/waiter, but eventually I got the impression that they were serious and were not going to change. However, I have only seen this at our local IHOP, so let's both hope that they dont act the same at yours. Our local IHOP's employees get a C-.
Cleanliness
This place actually surprised me for the better. I had heard that this place was such a dump that I would walk out the second I entered. As it turns out, they constantly have Janitors on duty making sure your eating experience is nice and not spoiled by a piece of sausage on the ground. This place far from spotless, but far from a dump. Id give the cleanliness here a B.
My Food Recommendation
Breakfast - 2 Eggs, Scrambled, with Toast and Bacon.
Lunch - Sourdough Melt
Dinner - Bacon Cheeseburger
Average Wait For a Seat
If it's sunday and your right in the middle of the after-church rush, expect to wait a good fifteen minutes or so. Any other time of the week, expect to be seated right away.
Overall
IHOP is great for the occasional snack, or even meal. You will find yourself hooked on the food in an instant. However, our local IHOP has discouraged us from frequenting them due to their employees, who consistantly feel like we are just a hassle, not business. Because of that, I give our local IHOP 3 stars.
