If you are heading to Santa Barbara/Carpinteria areas any time soon, you will have a few opportunities to eat at an IHOP. In Santa Barbara, you will find 2 IHOP restaurants. If you head out to Oxnard, you will find three of them. But in Carpinteria, you will find one located at 1114 Casitas Pass Road, Carpinteria, CA 93013 (tel: 805-566-4926). This is where my family, a guest, and I ate a few months ago during our trip to the Carpinteria/Santa Barbara areas. This IHOP is located in a shopping center close to a major road, the Casitas Pass Road. The first thing we noticed was the availability of parking spaces. We did not have to fight to find a parking spot.
After parking a few feet from the restaurant, we walked in. My son was in a playful mood. He started running to the back before a clerk sat us. I chased him and controled him. In the meantime, one of the waiters approached us to take us to our table. As we were following him, we saw a lot of seniors eating and smiling. Two of them waived at my son who waived back at them. While sitting in his high chair, he kept looking back at them. The seniors were distracted. These two old ladies enjoyed the attention my son gave them. Having taken our orders for beverages, the waiter returned with a juice pitcher which he lay on the table. He also brought some crayola and drawing papers for our two little ones.
IHOP is family-friendly. My kids did not wanted to play. They started to get out of their seats. My son almost fell off the high chair. The waiter came by to entertain him.
IHOP can be compared to Denny's to a certain extent, but it's higher. It has its own appeals.
Food: If you are going to IHOP, go for breakfast and dinner. You will enjoy the meals, the pancakes, waffles, and more. Make sure you check the International Passport Breakfast. What's good about the place is that you can have breadfast any time. You will enjoy your two eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links and your choice of Swedish, French, German Buttermilk. Depending on the mood, I may go for the Classic Egg breakfast and combination. My favorite is three eggs and pancakes...Yummy!
Don't forget to try the pancake originals. If you get there at lunch time, try their salad: (choices: Southwestern Chicken Fajita Salad, and Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad--my favorite)
If you go there for a burger, just know it will be served with fries, onion rings or soup.
No matter what you do, you can't lose. You will be eating good food. You won't be only stuffed!

Service: There is no way that one can complain about our waiter's service. He was fantastic. He took us to a table by the windows. This way, our kids could see what was going on the streets outside. It was time for us to place our orders. He took them, went in, and returned with the glasses or water we had ordered. He may have taken about 20-25 minutes to bring us our breakfast.
