| klcc's Full Review: J. Alexander's Corporation |
My husband and I were in Memphis, visiting his mother and step father. We were all very hungry and wanted something to eat. My father in law suggested J. Alexander's. He had been there before and liked it. We went on a Friday night. When we got placed on the waiting list, the hostess told us it was about a 25 minute wait. We got our beeper and waited. The wait lasted a little over an hour. When we were seated, a few minutes later the waitress came over and took our drink orders and food order. She was in a hurry.
I ordered a house salad and stuffed potato. My son ordered pasta with marina, and my husband ordered a sirloin steak. When another waiter brought our salads out, they had no dressing on them. He had to go and get our dressings. The salads were better then most dinner salads at restaurants. They also come with a delicious crossant. Some one else brought our food out. My husband said his steak was good. My son ate just a few bites of his pasta. He usually eats pasta really well, so I tried a bite of it. There was no flavor in it.
My potato was supposed to be stuffed. It had just a little bit of cheese and bacon bits. There was not much flavor to it. I had to ask for some sour cream to go into it. My husband's steak was served with smashed potatoes. His potatoes tasted better then the stuffed potato that I got. The salads were served with a crossant, this was very good.
The atmosphere at this restaurant was really loud. I thought that it was supposed to be a nice restaurant, but I would have guessed that I was in a sports bar. The music was louder then most restaurants play. Also the people around us were very loud. It looked as if were supposed to be romantic. It had candles and pretty tablecloths on the tables. It just didn't have the romance in the air.
Most of the items on the menu were priced between $7.95 and $23.95. They had choices of soups, salads, sandwiches, seafood, and steaks. Over all I would say that this restaurant was ok. I was not impressed enough to go back to it. We only spent $33.07 for our meal. But I didn't like it very much. I would have much rather had another restaurant.
Thank you for reading and have a good night!! Leave me comments!!
