Olive Garden is not my favorite Italian restaurant. It's decent food, but it isn't Italian....it's American.
If you want excellent Italian food....you are NOT going to find it in a chain restaurant. You will find the best food in independent "Mom & Pop" type operations....particularly in the northeastern US. I can give you the names of a few if you are ever in Connecticut, (my old stomping grounds)....anywhere else and you will have to ask the locals. If you are south of the Mason Dixon Line, good luck! Since there are very few Italians down here, it's very hard to find decent Italian food....here in Texas, I'd stick to Mexican cuisine.
