This is my second opinion on Olive Garden. My first stated that we never even ate there, because the wait was app. one hour, so we didn't bother to stay. I was told this was not a fair rating of Olive Garden. However I disagree. As a consumer, if I had read that review before going, we wouldn't have bothered to even go. I think a one hour wait for ANY restaurant is excessive. And a problem easily resolved by taking reservations.
However, I convinced my husband to give it a second chance in an attempt to be fair. I haven't not changed my opinion too much.
First of all I must say the food WAS good. I had heard that the salad had an oil type dressing, which I don't like, so I ordered a soup. It was very creamy and good. I did try some of my husbands salad and I'm sure if you like the dressing it was very good. My husband and son liked it very much. I'm not sure if you can order any other dressings or not? The bread sticks were excellent, and replenished when needed.
The main dishes were very tasty and ample enough. I had the Seafood Alfredo. Was it the best Alfredo I've ever tasted? No....but pretty darn close. My husband had another seafood dish and my son had a HUGE sampler plate which by some miracle he managed to finish. Of course, he's 15 and can finish just about anything.
To be sure we didn't have to wait this time, we arrived at the restaurant at 4:00 p.m. We got RIGHT in. No waiting at all. We left a little before 5:00 and although the line was not out the door yet, it was beginning to form.
The staff was excellent!!!!!! The minute there was only one bread stick left, she was asking if we wanted more. Dirty dishes were removed promptly. Refillable drinks were replenished when necessary.
Will we go back? I highly doubt it. Eating at 4:00 just does not work out for us. It is too early to be really hungry and doesn't keep us satisfied for the rest of the night like eating between 5:00 and 6:00 does. If you want to try lunch, if you happen to eat dinner at an early hour, if you want to "rearrange" your eating schedule, or if you don't mind waiting for an hour (or so), then I can recommend the Olive Garden. If none of the above work for you then I say to bypass it. Especially if you have younger children......because I still say....NO restaurant food is worth an hour wait, especially at an average $12 a plate.
