Pros: It's really not as bad as its reputation suggests. Twins games are really cheap!
Cons: It wasn't designed for baseball. Not enough restrooms. It's a boring place.
The Bottom Line: It's not that bad. You can enjoy a game there, but the teams and fans that play there deserve better.

| karmahead's Full Review: Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome |
I've seen many baseball games in the H.H.H. metrodome, and one football game. I've also been to a few other ball parks. I have fond memories of watching games in the metrodome. It has a very simple design, but unfortunately it's really a football stadium and not a baseball field. Tickets for Twins games are extremely cheap. There are also many promotion deals, such as a dollar hot dog nights or $3 general admission lower level tickets from Mondays to Thursdays for students who present an ID while purchasing tickets on game night. When crowds are scarce (which is quite often the case, even when the Twins are doing well) you can pretty much sit anywhere you like. I usually sit around the third base line or in one of the seats right above the left field wall. You can see quite well from those seats. From the 1st and 3rd base line you can sometimes get a stiff neck because the seats face the side of the field, and not the mound. Why? Because this is a football field.
The metrodome can get extremely loud. During the world series in 1987 and 1991 players had to wear earplugs at times. Opposing football teams usually have a lot of trouble calling plays in the metrodome as crowd roar furiously because they're excited, but also because they know that the louder they'll get, the more confused the opposing team's offense will become; just ask Brett Favre if you don't believe me.
Minnesota Vikings football games are extremely popular in the area. Games are usually sold out. People drink a lot at these games. Some fans can get pretty rowdy but it's all in pretty good spirits. Unfortunately when people drink, they usually need to use the restrooms as a result. I've waited in line for more than 20 minutes in order to empty my bladder while surrounded by hundreds (I'm not exaggerating) other men waiting in line, or doing the same thing as me on my sides. In fact, everybody is so close to eachother that you might get anxiety pressure, and even though you really need to go... well you just can't. Very embarrassing situation. Usually though, you wait for so long that you just can't hold it, so the pressure to perform is erased. The line for the women's restrooms stretches out until outside the restroom entrance. A big negative point for the metrodome.
The food is decent at the HHH dome. Nothing spectacular. Just your regular ball park cotton candy, hot dogs, crackerjacks. There are many outdoor activities outside the dome for kids and families. Nothing spectacular once again, but the people in the Twins and Vikings organization have made an effort to promote their teams with various deals and activities.
As a kid, I thought the metrodome was fantastic. I just loved the artificial turf, the ambiant temperature, the fact that opposing teams would lose balls in the outfield when trying to catch fly balls. Now, I think it's outdated. There are beautiful ballparks being built in North America in Seattle, Milwaukee, Arizona. The Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St-Paul) need a new ball park but legislature and the community haven't shown much support. It's a shame because the Twins need the area's support to remain competitive in the majors, and to stay alive in the majors. This park cut it fifteen years ago, now it's just too old. It had an eighties feel to it with its concrete walls.
To the metrodome's credit, it's a pretty versatile place. Many events have taken place there like concerts, supercross events, large group gatherings, the NCAA basketball tournament. It's a multipurpose stadium, and frankly, it'd be nice to watch a baseball game in a building designed for just that.
