While I was in Minneapolis this last weekend I went to a Twins game at the Metro Dome. (This was the only way that I could get my fiancé to spend his whole day at The Mall of America Shopping). All I can say is that I went and saw a game. The dome is nothing to write home about and hopefully for the Twin Cities they will get a nicer stadium in the future.
We left the mall and drove towards the dome. The signs were very nicely placed and we had no problems finding the dome. We got parking right outside the dome and only had to pay 5 dollars. This is a lot less then the parking that you have to pay for the new Comerica Park in Detroit which is were I am from. This was nice to be able to walk right up to the dome. So we go to the ticket booths and purchase our tickets. They price if very reasonable. We paid 12 dollars and had pretty nice seats. They do offer a lot of ways to get seats for less money. They have a lot of promotions which would be nice for a family.
The game that we went to they were honoring the Twins All-Time team. We got a poster that was very nice and got to see the players announced. Only three weren’t there. That was very nice, but this meant that the game started 45 minutes late. This just made the game feel really long. If I would have known that it would take that long we would have come late. A few minutes late is one thing but 45 is is too much.
For some reason the dome was covered with a white sheet in the upper reaches of the seats. They had pictures of the players whose numbers had been retired, but it just looked tacky. I think that empty seats would look better then that. The sound system was I think the worst I could never understand what the annoucer was saying. I hope they get that fixed.
The food was ok, but I had a little problem with the price. I ordered a beer, a pop and a popcorn. The lady told me it was 15 dollars. This price was of course wrong. It should have been 11 dollars. They could not figure out way the price was wrong so I had to stand there for almost ten minutes while they figured out what to do. I did get the right price but I am a little confused how it could be 4 dollars off.
I can only compare this stadium to Tigers Stadium and new Comerica Park, but this didn’t even come close to either. If you want to go see a game then this will have to do, but don’t go for anything else.
