| gormly's Full Review: Pro Player Stadium |
Pro Player Stadium ever referred to by me now as The Stadium formerly known as Joe Robbie (JRS) I will never call it Pro Player. That’s just a sellout. It’s the only negative I have for this stadium.
I am a huge fan of the Miami Dolphins and I will never forget my first visit to Joe Robbie Stadium. Ever since the first time seeing the Dolphins play at Joe Robbie on TV, I wanted to BE there.
Not only due to the Phins being my Favorite NFL team, but because it looked SO great. Brightly lit circular stairs on each corner, the orange and aqua seats, the decked out fans, everything screamed VISIT ME!
So 7 years ago my friend Brian and I decided we would make an annual trip. Although I think Miami (the city) and surrounding areas need a little help, Joe Robbie is a class act stadium.
When we first arrived, all we could do was drive around and take hundreds (or what seemed like) of pictures. Every angle, every corner, it was just so cool. The parking lots are easily accessible, well lit, and neatly organized. When we first drove in we noticed one thing immediately. THE FANS! Everyone it seemed, was wearing aqua and orange, there were hundreds of small parties along side the 5 or 6 sponsored ones. Everyone was so nice, relaxed and friendly.
It seems like at every game there are 75000 fans outside! All cheering for the same team. We could have stayed outside for days; it seemed, except for one thing…
There was a GAME to see.
Going into the stadium was no problem, there are entrances all over and none of them blocked off like you see at so many other stadiums. The gate people smiled, said, “enjoy the game” and didn’t give the impression that “my job stinks” like you see everywhere else, they seemed happy to be there.
We could have taken the escalator up; it’s a nice one, all the way to the top. But after seeing the circular columns on TV week after week, we knew we had to traverse those instead. Exercise is a must if going this route (tip for new visitors) :>
Exploring the stadium we noticed a big plus over other stadiums, there was plenty of concession stands and booths. You can even get fresh Dominos pizza!
Once we got by the concessions, we came through the seating entrance tunnel. What a sight to see! This stadium is beautiful! A sea of aqua and orange, a beautifully manicured field of Athletic Turf (natural grass). The signs were huge and clear, playing bits from local sports shows and highlights of Dolphin games (this was 1 hour before game time)
Once we found our seats we were ecstatic. Each 19” back seat has armrests and a nice form. They are much more comfortable than we thought they would be. No bench style seating for Dolphin fans, no-sir-ee, only the best!
There is NO bad seat at JRS, from everywhere you can see everything. Endzone, coner seat, anywhere is worth the ticket price.
Once the game started we noticed how great the fans really are, they are courteous to fellow fans, even if they are not rooting for the same team (see my review on Foxboro Stadium for a different perspective). I really believe the atmosphere of Joe Robbie has a lot to do with the behavior of the fans and what makes being there such a great experience.
There was no mad rush at the end of the game, to get out, and as a matter of fact, I don’t think we have ever left the stadium earlier than 2 hours after the game. Post parties, great fans, and clean beautiful stadium and in the Miami weather..
Who could ask for more?
