Ok, it's a joke, I know that they will never allow smoking in the stadiums, even though they put the taxes on my cigarettes through the roof and used that money to pay for the Stadium, but that's ok!
Seriously, though, I think they did a fairly decent job constructing the new stadium. I have been to several Tampa Bay Mutiny games (soccer...what can I say, the tickets are cheap and it's something to do!) as well as a couple Bucs games (for those of you living in a hole that is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the football team...) and in general I would say that I am impressed with the stadium.
If you have not seen any of the Bucs games, they built a life sized Pirate ship on one end of the field where they also have the snack bars set up on a boardwalk/pier type setup. I definitely have to give the designers credit for that aspect of the stadium, because it is different than any other stadium I have been in, and my kids loved walking through the Pirate Ship.
As far as the seating, I found it lacking on several counts. I expect seating to be cramped and relatively uncomfortable in older stadiums because, well, they are older stadiums. I would have expected that since Raymond James Stadium is brand new, they would have put a little more thought into the seating than was put into the older stadiums. The seats are small and very close together, which isn't as bad at the Mutiny games which are anything but sold out, but it gets to be quite uncomfortable at a sold out Bucs game.
In their defense, I am rather anal about being around people. I don't like being bumped and touched a lot when I am in public, and that might be part of the reason I think it is really cramped. I just like having a little elbow room between me and the big, fat, sweaty, hairy, face-painted Neanderthal next to me!
